On Friday there was a very successful collaboration between Enniscorthy Community Alliance, Enniscorthy Tidy Towns Volunteers, staff of the AIB Bank, Staff of Holos Skin Care Company and members of the Public Participation Network. The group organized to pull up Himalayan Balsam plants growing on the Urrin Loop of the Promenade Walk. This invasive species which loves damp conditions has been encroaching on this site for several years and the risk is that it will eventually shade out all our local species especially the important pollinators.

We are delighted to have been allocated funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht to support the works required to get the Captain Wafer Hall open for community use!! We have been working away behind the scenes for the last few months, but without this funding getting the necessary work to open the 'Hut' would be impossible. We can't wait to share the transformation over the coming months! https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-rural-and-community-development-and-the-gaeltacht/services/community-recognition-fund/ Enniscorthy Community Alliance awarded grant to deliver Energy Champion Programme in Wexford24/3/2025 Enniscorthy Community Alliance has received funding from the Climate Actions Work Engagement fund to deliver an innovative Energy Champion Programme aimed at increasing awareness and engagement in energy efficiency to support climate action at the local level. Enniscorthy Community Alliance is pleased to announce the fantastic response to our spring bulb campaign. Over 6,000 spring flower bulbs were planted in Enniscorthy's public spaces between October and December 2024. This impressive achievement was made possible by the significant turnout and active participation of local communities, secondary school students, and Youth Reach Enniscorthy students. Even though some bulbs were planted late in the season, we hope the campaign will bring vibrant colours to Enniscorthy in the spring. The spring bulb campaign was launched in October 2024 as part of our "Plants and Places Project." The objective was to engage communities, particularly young people, in enhancing the beauty of public spaces in Enniscorthy and its surroundings. We hope that the young people will feel proud, and rightfully so, when they see the results of their efforts in spring 2025. Residents and passers-by showed their appreciation, and motorists honked their horns in support of the participating youths' hard work. Enniscorthy Community Alliance is grateful to Enniscorthy Municipal Council, Enniscorthy Tidy Towns volunteers, Wexford Local Development community workers, and Cluid Housing Association officers, whose collaboration and participation made this project possible. The beneficiary residents and associations involved in the bulb planting included Forgelands, Bridge Meadows, Madeira Oaks, Beech Avenue, Paddocks, Pairc na gCon, Gimount Avenue, Cluain Dara, Fr. Murphy Park, and others. Fulfilling our objective to engage young people in the process, many public areas were planted up by the students of St. Mary's CBS, Enniscorthy Community College, Coláiste Bríde, and Youth Reach Enniscorthy. These areas include Templeshannon Quay, Abbey Square, Main Street, Mile house Road, Mill Park Road, Gimont Avenue, Cluain Dara, Fr. Murphy Park, the small park on Shannon Hill, and the Orchard Peace Park. The planted areas will be marked with "Do Not Mow" signs provided by EMC We are delighted to announce that an extension to our very successful Enniscorthy Plants and Places project has received additional funding from the Department of Justice, Community Safety Innovation Fund.
We will be adding two additional project elements focused on Enniscorthy East Community, the two new components are: (1) introducing a ‘clean street, safe streets’ initiative for Enniscorthy East which will complement our on-going Plant and Places activities; and, (2) facilitating capacity building for community based planning and project management at Enniscorthy East, a means to sustain community project activities in the area in the longer term. Activities under this new part of the project will kick off in early 2025! We are delighted to announce that John Murphy will be joining us as our Plants and Places project co-ordinator. John will be responsible for the management and delivery of the project in Enniscorthy over the coming two years. John is originally from Enniscorthy, but has worked in Africa for many years managing development projects and is also a trained horticulturalist. Having recently moved back to the town, John applied for the position and was a perfect fit for the role. We look forward to working with John to get some projects operational on the ground in the very near future! The project aims to provide participants with a positive outlet for energy and creativity. Giving a sense of purpose and accomplishment though positive contributions to their community. In additional it also hopes to help participants to develop a greater appreciation for the natural world and a better understanding of environmental issues and how to address them. Enniscorthy Community Alliance were delighted to receive grant funding from the Department of Justice Community Safety Innovation Fund of€150,000 to support our Enniscorthy Community Plants and Places Project which will start in the coming months.
